Imagine If...

Nurturing creative learning

The Creativity Centre will enable our students to expand their creative learning in performance, virtual languages and full-phase production, through both traditional methods and emerging technologies.

Their future projects might include creating animations, developing a business, making scientific discoveries, building a robot, inventing products, designing a sports programme or testing a construction.

Collaborative learning platforms for this new creativity programme at Marsden will include:

- The Imaginarium Initiative

A co-curricular immersion programme where students learn to invent and produce their own imaginative experience. This could involve curating an art exhibition, crafting a film production, arranging a musical, facilitating a science symposium or developing an entrepreneurial venture.

The clip below is an example of the type of project students will produce within the Imaginarium Initiative: showcasing a science project and executing the production and presentation of it themselves.

- Practitioners in Residence/Master Classes

A community partnership programme where visiting creative professionals host master classes and workshops for students, teach them how to fuse art with business, physics with design, and science with technology through a mediated, collaborative learning process.

- The Creative Inquiry Symposium

An annual event where the daily timetable is collapsed and students apply creative problem-solving skills to a chosen cross-curricular theme that has real and direct relevance to our community. Students meet with outside experts and engage in collaborative learning.

- Multimedia Programme

This programme will enable students to apply their computer and design skills in practical and creative ways. They will become literate in virtual languages, skilled in information technology and experiment with digital design.

- Health & Well-Being Classes

These will provide a more holistic approach to physical education, where expressive, meditative elements of exercise, such as dance and yoga are expanded in the curriculum.

- Creative Scholarships

Awards offered for tertiary study to graduating students to affirm the School’s commitment to creativity and innovative thinking.
